There's something intimate about designing for circus. It's not just spectacle, it's also vulnerability. Bodies suspended mid-air, stories told without words, the collective breath of an audience holding still. Le Monastère offers Quebec audiences a new way to witness circus arts. Not distant but close, human and festive.
Since 2021, I've been designing the visual materials: printed programs, roll-ups, banners, menus, membership cards, branded objects. Each piece carries the warmth and spirit of the organization, aligned with its identity but never rigid. There's always room for play.
One of my favorite collaborations was the beer packaging for Jardin du Monastère, the summer circus cabaret held in the garden of the St Jax Church in downtown Montreal. In 2022, I designed a label inspired by sea buckthorn and the raw spirit of the venue, in partnership with L'Espace Public brewery. The following year, I created FUNAMBULUS, a new edition reflecting the elegance and poetry of the tightrope, echoing both the season's name and its theme.
It's been a long-term collaboration. One that bridges cultural branding, storytelling, and playful design. A partnership built on trust, rhythm, and the belief that design can hold emotion as much as information.
